Natural fibers

We pay particular attention to the selection of our fabrics, favoring materials made from natural fibers such as cotton, linen, ramie or hemp.

Their advantages

Artificial fibers

Artificial fibers are textiles made from natural raw materials, whether organic or inorganic, transformed using chemical processes. They form the large family of viscose fibers.

Among the different types of viscose available, we chose to use bamboo viscose in our collections because it is softer and more durable than cotton. Furthermore, bamboo cultivation requires no fertilizers, pesticides, or irrigation. It grows very quickly and helps reduce the risk of deforestation.

Although these fabrics are made from natural resources, they are not considered natural fibers due to the chemical processing required to transform them into textiles.

Artificial fibers also include more innovative textiles…

Innovative fabrics

We also use TENCEL™ and LENZING™ , a fiber produced from sustainably sourced wood. It has a low environmental impact thanks to production that limits the use of substances harmful to human health. At the end of its life, TENCEL™ can be broken down into fiber and reconstituted to create new fabrics.

Their advantages

Synthetic fibers

Although synthetic fibers like polyester and nylon are still used in our collections, they are predominantly used in the manufacture of our Canadian fabrics. We continue to work with our local knitters because we are proud to purchase fabrics made here.

However, we are working hard to incorporate more natural fibers into the construction of our fabrics.

Every step is a step in the right direction.

Original prints

At Melow, we develop our own patterns and prints , created in-house to give our collections a unique identity. Each season, we imagine exclusive designs that reflect our vision and aesthetic.

Local collaboration

We go further by creating our own jacquard knits and quilted fabrics, custom-designed or personalized from existing bases, in partnership with local knitters.
